About Us

Our Why
We want you to feel the buzz that giving creates - the "helpers high" A healthy giving community is an essential part of a well-functioning society. We aim to super-charge the process of giving, removing barriers and providing a safe and secure medium for donors to support and donate to the causes they care about.
Connecting the givers with the causes
Decisions on what to give, who to donate to, and the best ways to give are getting harder. There are causes everywhere you look, you want to give where there is the biggest impact, and you don't want to be inundated with pressure to give more.
For charities, the donor fatigue is being felt, the cause and need becoming greater, with the ever-present focus on cost-effective income generation.
Our mission is to super-charge the giving process, connecting all willing participants with their causes as efficiently as possible, ensuring benefits for all.
Having been involved in corporate and technology businesses, we know the power that technology can bring. We aim to support charities with our technology to bring in donations as cost-effectively as possible.

Making donations easy
Donors are feeling the overwhelm - so many great causes but limited funds leading to donor fatigue. Also it is estimated that only 1 in 5 donors claim the tax credit that they are entitled to because the admin is a hassle for little perceived benefit.
Charities are feeling this donor fatigue but the need doesn't go away. Trying to reach possible donors whilst remaining fiscally prudent is a regular challenge. We created Donorbees to remove the friction points to giving and maximise the value that giving creates.
For those in paid work, payroll giving is by far the most tax-efficient method to donate (for every $1 you donate, you immediately get 33c back through less PAYE tax without any need for end of year claiming and no receipt management). Up until now payroll giving has had many drawbacks and compliance for employers and donors. Donorbees has solved all of these administrative hassles.
If you are an employer keen to enable payroll giving, or you are an employee and you want us to chat to your employer about Donorbees, give us a buzz.
If you are not paid by a payroll system, but keen to be part of Donorbees and supercharging giving, sign up here to be first to use our digital wallet - coming to you soon.
And of course, if you are a Charity and we haven't found you yet, please also give us a buzz.

Here's how
Our first product is Payroll Giving, with additional giving options and methods coming soon.
With Payroll Giving, it starts with an Employer and their payroll system. Most payroll systems in New Zealand have a payroll giving feature, so this just needs to be enabled.
Once enabled, employees can set up a regular or one-off deduction from their pay for payroll giving and have it paid to their Donorbees Giving Wallet. No need to keep receipts or make tax credit claims because you get your tax credit straight away through a deduction from your PAYE ($10 only costs you $6.70 - how good is that!).
Your Donorbees Giving Wallet can just keep accumulating, or you can distribute to charities straight away - any amount, any charity, any time.
With this, your donation is anonymous, so you won't appear on any contact database and get "pestered" by unwanted lobbying. Any news from your favourite charities will appear in your Newsfeed - well away from your daily inbox or text messages.
For Charities, we are your amplifier, reaching donors who follow your causes, with funds to donate, without the need for broadcast emails or fancy media campaigns.
FAQs
How do we cover costs?
Creating and operating Donorbees comes with the costs of technology development, hosting, administration, marketing, Charity partner management and community engagement. Being a new start-up our costs are the most active part of our financials. As we work towards break-even and then modest profitability our charges have been set at 10% of total donations. We have a goal to reduce this to as low as possible. We have a couple of ways these costs can be covered: employers cover the costs for their employees' giving, or it is deducted from total donations before paying to charities monthly.
What is our business model?
Donorbees is a social enterprise, which is a business with a social-good purpose at its heart. We exist to super-charge the giving process and maximise the impact. We do this by making sure donors are rewarded with tax credits without admin, and charities receive their donations very cost-effectively. All deposits to donors' Giving Wallets are handled by our registered charitable trust. Donorbees Charitable Trust receives your deposits to your Giving Wallet and then pays donations to your chosen charities, less the service fee if applicable. A registered company, Donorbees Limited, provides all the administration, marketing and technology management and levies an administration fee to cover these costs.
What is planned for the future?
We have some exciting products in the works. Some of these will come with a subscription, which will provide an additional revenue stream. This will mean we can reduce the service fee deduction that we are currently charging, giving more to Charities. Sign up for our newsletter to hear about our developments.
